Senior U.S. Medical Counselor Program

Dr. Samuel H. Selesnick, MD, FACS is professor and vice chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology and professor of otolaryngology in Neurological Surgery at the Weill Cornell Medical College (New York, USA), and is a member of the Department of Neurological Surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Since its creation in 1906 by members of the American community living in Paris, an important mission of the American Hospital of Paris (AHP) has been to foster the exchange of medical and scientific knowledge between France and the United States. In part to reinforce and support this important historic mission of this unique Hospital, American hospital of Paris Foundation created this visiting American doctor in residence position for the Senior U.S. Medical Counselor at the American Hospital of Paris.

  • Assist to promote an exchange of the best French & American medical practices between the Hospital’s physicians and physicians and medical institutions in the United States.
  • Recommend centers of excellence in the United States that AHP can establish exchanges with and to foster the development of those exchanges.
  • Collaborate with the AHP medical staff in organizing conferences and meetings on professional practices and scientific topics with American hospitals’ involvement.
  • Provide advice and insights from an American practice standpoint.
  • Advise on recruitment and successful integration of American physician(s) into the Hospital’s medical team.
  • Advise Hospital Management and the Board of Governors of the Hospital on hospital management issues.
