The 24/7 Medical Surgical Unit of the American Hospital of Paris operates twenty-four-seven, providing care to adults in a medical or surgical emergency (excluding neuro-surgical emergencies, severe burn and polytrauma).
Treatment is provided by a team of experienced emergency physicians. If deemed necessary, they can call on a specialist from one of the Hospital’s specialized units providing round-the-clock, on-call service, nights and weekends included.
In the event of a life-threatening cardio-respiratory emergency, the patient is transferred to the resuscitation room, where the emergency physician on duty receives immediate support from an intensive care team (intensivist and nurses). Afterwards, the patient may be transferred to one of the American Hospital’s intensive care units (multidisciplinary or cardiac), where an intensivist or cardiologist – present at all times within the establishment – will provide the necessary care.
In the event of a surgical emergency, immediate treatment is provided in the operating room, open day and night, by teams from the Departments of Surgery and Anesthesiology, who provide twenty-four-seven, on-call service in collaboration with the emergency physicians.
The 24/7 Medical Surgical Unit of the American Hospital of Paris does not accept pediatric emergencies.
